2024 TENNIS LESSON REGISTRATION – SESSION 2 (LESSON DATES: 7/8 – 7/18)

REGISTRATION INFO – 2024 SESSION 2

  • Registration Opens:
    • Members: Mon, 3/22
    • Non-Members: Mon, 4/1 @ 9am
  • Price:
    • Members: $90; Non-members: $115 (NOTE: Logged in members have $25 discount applied at check-out.)
  • Session 2 Days/Times: Session 2 runs from 7/8 – 7/18. Lessons are offered for members and non-members in 4-day (Mon & Wed or Tue & Thurs), 60-minute sessions over the session’s two-week period.

After completing the online registration, in order for your player to be eligible to participate on the first day of the session, please fill out the following required paperwork (once for each participant each summer):

ADDITIONAL REGISTRATION DETAILS

  • Payment: Payment is required at the time of registration and done online. Credit/debit cards, PayPal, and Venmo are accepted. For members, you need to be logged in to the website with your membership account at the time of registration to receive your membership discount.
  • Member Registration: Limited to immediate family members (including grandchildren).
  • Cancellation/Change Policy: We try to do our best to accommodate changes and cancellations that arise if they are communicated in a timely manner. To see our policy and process please go to our Tennis Lesson Change and Cancellation Info page.

RED BALL (AGES 5-6)

Focus is on learning the fundamentals. Players will learn on a 36’ court and mini net using soft red compression balls. Players will learn how to contact, track and project tennis balls and begin to learn how to rally with a partner. Players must be able to focus and follow directions apart from a parent/guardian.

  • For Ages: 5 – 6
  • Teacher-to-Student Ratio (Max): 1-to-6
  • Experience: Player has no tennis experience.
Red Ball 1 (Beginner) – Class skills/focus:
  • Hand eye coordination / motor skills
  • Racquet skills
  • Introduce Continental Grip
  • Footwork
  • Forehand and backhand groundstrokes
  • Making contact with the ball
  • Develop rally skills

Red Ball 2 (Advanced-Beginner/Intermediate)
  • For Ages: 5 – 6
  • Teacher-to-Student Ratio (Max): 1-to-6
  • Experience: Players have had some tennis experience. They have had at least 6 months to 1 year of practice either with parents/group/private lessons.
Red Ball 2 (Advanced-Beginner/Intermediate) – Class skills/focus:
  • Hand eye coordination / motor skills
  • Racquet skills and grips
  • Side to side and forward movement
  • Forehand and backhand groundstrokes
  • Tracking and Projecting
  • Volleys
  • Rally with coaches and peers
  • Point play
Red Ball 2 (Advanced-Beginner/Intermediate) Classes

ORANGE BALL (AGES 7-9)

Building on the fundamentals. Players will learn on the 60’ court using orange compression balls. We focus on the fundamentals of groundstrokes, begin to direct the ball, and consistency of rallying. Additionally, point play will be introduced. Players will learn to make quick decisions about tracking the ball’s depth and reacting accordingly.

  • Experience: Little to no tennis experience.

Orange Ball 2 (Intermediate)
  • For Ages: 7 – 9
  • Teacher-to-Student Ratio (Max): 1-to-6
  • Experience: Players will have had at least 6 months to 1 year of training. The players will know different tennis terms, and they will be able to sustain consistent rallies of 4+ shots.
Orange Ball 2 (Intermediate) – Class skills/focus:
  • Footwork
  • Racquet skills
  • Forehand and backhand groundstrokes with side to side and up and back movement
  • Volleys
  • Overhand Serves
  • Point play with scoring

Orange Ball 3 (Advanced)
  • For Ages: 7 – 9
  • Teacher-to-Student Ratio (Max): 1-to-6
  • Experience: Players will have had over 1 year of training. Players will be able to rally 7-8 shots consistently. Players can execute all basic shots – forehand, backhand, volley, overhand serve successfully. These players will have good listening skills and a strong desire to improve.

  • Approaching the net

GREEN BALL (AGES 10-12)

Sharpening the fundamentals. While using green compression balls, players will learn how to build points through different singles and doubles point scenarios. Players will develop top spin, differentiate between a first and second serve, and use approaching the net to become well rounded players. This class gets players ready for match play.

  • Experience: Players will have little to no tennis experience. This class will introduce players to tennis. The main objective will be to help players learn all basic strokes.

  • Experience: Players will have at least 1 year of tennis experience. These players will be able to sustain, consistently, a 4-6 ball rally.
Green Ball 2 (Intermediate) – Class skills/focus:
  • Footwork
  • Forehand and backhand groundstrokes with side to side and up and back movement
  • Volleys and overheads
  • Approaching the net
  • Overhand Serve
  • Basic doubles strategy
  • Doubles and singles point play

Green Ball 3 (Advanced)
  • For Ages: 10 – 12
  • Teacher-to-Student Ratio (Max): 1-to-6
  • Experience: These players will have more than 1 year of tennis experience. Advanced green ball players will be able to play a match. These players will be able to sustain 8-10 ball rallies. These players will show a strong desire to listen and improve.
Green Ball 3 (Advanced) – Class skills/focus:
  • Footwork
  • Forehand and backhand movement
  • Moving from defense to offense
  • Topspin and backspin
  • Overhand serve – developing a first and second serve
  • Singles and doubles point play with strategy
  • Shot selection
  • Fitness

YELLOW BALL (AGES 13-14, 15-18)
Expanding on the fundamentals. In Yellow ball, players will elevate their game by developing different tennis weapons – using a variety of angles, depth and various spins to create unique points. Along with technique, we expand into the mental side to allow our players to make quick decisions within the points that result in high percentage shot making and boost consistency within their game.

  • For Ages: 13 -14, 15 – 18
  • Teacher-to-Student Ratio (Max): 1-to-6
  • Experience: Beginning tennis players with little or no tennis experience. This class will introduce players to the game of tennis and help them learn all basic strokes.
Yellow Ball 1 (Beginner) – Class skills/focus:
  • Footwork
  • Grips
  • Rackets skills
  • Forehand and backhand groundstrokes
  • Volleys

Yellow Ball 1 (Beginner) Classes

Yellow Ball 2 (Intermediate)
  • For Ages: 13 -14, 15 – 18
  • Teacher-to-Student Ratio (Max): 1-to-6
  • Experience: Players will have at least 1 year of tennis experience. These players will be able to sustain 6-8 ball rallies consistently. These players will be able to serve consistently and be able to play a match. Players will most likely be on their high school Junior Varsity team or have the skills to it (if in middle school).
Yellow Ball 2 (Intermediate) – Class skills/focus:
  • Footwork
  • Forehand and backhand groundstrokes with movement
  • Volleys, overheads and introduction to poaching
  • Strategy to approaching the net
  • Topspin and backspin
  • Moving from defense to offense
  • Serve (developing a first and second serve)
  • Singles and doubles point play with a strategy focus
Yellow Ball 2 (Intermediate) Classes
*NOTE: Tennis team members MAY NOT register for a Mon-Wed 2-3pm lesson as this conflicts with dual matches.

Yellow Ball 3 (Advanced)
  • For Ages: 13 – 14, 15 – 18
  • Teacher-to-Student Ratio (Max): 1-to-6
  • Experience: Players will have more than 2 years of tennis experience. These players may have some tournament experience and would either be on their High School Varsity Tennis Team or have the skills to make it (if in middle school).
Yellow Ball 3 (Advanced) – Class skills/focus:
  • Footwork, speed, and agility
  • Shot selection and pattern development
  • Singles and doubles strategy
  • Serve spin, and directional control
  • Fitness
