Created in 1965 by families on Washington’s Bainbridge Island and named after a dog called Pickles, pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong, and is the fastest growing sport in America according to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA). It has more than 4.8 million participants nationwide and has grown by 39.3% over the last two years.
At View Ridge Swim and Tennis Club, we got in early on pickleball for our members. We have a pickleball court inside the pool grounds available for members with loaner paddles and balls available in the office. Come try it out.
Additionally, we’ve got plans to make the basketball court next to the tennis court secured and available for pickleball in the near future.
If you haven’t already, come on out and give pickleball a try!
